Tim Baughman joined Safer New Mexico Now in January 2009 following his retirement as a Major with the New Mexico State Police. Tim is a twenty-seven year veteran of the State Police and graduate of the FBI National Academy, 195th Session. During his career as a State Policeman he worked in several assignments across the state which included the Uniform Bureau, Narcotics and Criminal Investigations Sections, and the Special Operations Bureau. He retired as the East Zone Commander and managed six State Police districts, which included their operations, personnel, special events, and critical incidents. Additionally, Tim has extensive experience in preparing and managing grants and budgets, holds FBI Instructor Development certification, and Critical Incident and National Incident Command System certifications through IS800. As a law enforcement liaison, Tim is responsible for coordinating and negotiating contracts with police agencies participating in Operation DWI, Operation Buckle Down, STEP, Click It or Ticket, the “100 Days & Nights of Summer” campaign, and other enhanced enforcement programs. He also works to ensure that each agency accomplishes tasks as negotiated. Tim serves as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the FBI National Academy Associates, is a member and past President of the New Mexico State Police Association and is the NM State Director for the American Association of State Troopers.
