CPS Certification Training

The 4-day National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training course is intended for individuals who wish to become certified technicians capable of performing child safety seat inspections, education, and installations. This interactive, hands-on program is the most comprehensive training available.
Participants are taught through a combination of lectures, discussions of the most current technologies, role-playing, and hands-on practice with both child safety seats and vehicle belt systems. Some topics covered include: correct selection, usage and installation of child safety seats; correct identification and usage of belt systems; air bag safety; and "best practices" involved in child passenger safety. The curriculum is accredited through the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Training Center for thirty-two (32) hours of continuing education units and the Emergency Nurses' Association.

For more information on any of these trainings, please call the Safer Program Coordinator at (505) 856-6119.
